How to Downgrade iPhone Firmware from 4.0 to 3.1.3 on Windows<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Pre-request:<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Download the following software<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. iTunes 9.x<\/b><\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Original firmware 3.1.3 (Size 228MB)\u00a0 or other – find below<\/b><\/li>\n
  3. Download RecBoot 1.1<\/a> and extract the file in a temp folder<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Recover Procedure:<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Here I have described the down gradation procedure for Firmware 4.0 to 3.1.3
    \nStep 1<\/b><\/span>
    \nInstall the downloaded iTunes on your PC (Not required if already installed) and open the application.
    \nStep 2<\/b><\/span>
    \nPlug in your iPhone to PC using connecting cable. Now the system will detect your phone.
    \nPower down the iPhone by holding the sleep\/lock button and sliding to power off.
    \nStep 3<\/b><\/span>
    \nPut Your Phone Into DFU Mode<\/p>\n

    Procedure:<\/u><\/h3>\n

    \u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Once it’s powered down, press and hold both the sleep\/lock button and the home button for ten seconds.
    \nAfter ten seconds, release the power button but continue holding down the home button.<\/p>\n

    Step 4<\/b><\/span>
    \nOnce the iphone gone to DFU mode , iTunes will pop up a window as shown below telling you that it’s detected an iPhone in recovery mode and your iPhone’s screen will be black.
    \nClick on Ok<\/p>\n

    \nRestoring 3.1.3
    \nNow Pres Shift + restore<\/span> at a same time. This will open a navigation box.
    \nNavigate to the downloaded file iPhone1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw file<\/p>\n

    This will take atleast 10 Minits to restore the image.
    \nOnce the image is restore, you will get an error message as shown below(iphone could not be restored). Yon can ignore the error<\/span> message and click ok

    \nNow go to the RecBoot folder and execute the recboot.exe. This will open up an window as shown below. Click on exit recovery mode button.<\/p>\n

    This will take couple of seconds and now your Iphone will boot on the 3.1.3 version.<\/p>\n
