BSNL or Airtel Broadband Internet Configuration for Ubuntu \/Fedora \/Redhat Linux<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n

There is no special settings required for connect and configure BSNL Broadband mode on Linux platforms.
\nBSNL Broadband modem is already per-configured.
\nSo most of the cased, it will work with the default settings itself.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Automatic settings:<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

1) Verify whether your network card driver is installed on Ubuntu .<\/span><\/span>
\n2) Connect the Network cable between system and modem (ADSL router)
\n2) Enable Automatic IP configuration on Linux<\/span><\/span>
\ngo to System—>Administration —>Networking<\/b><\/span><\/span>
\n

\nSelect Automatic Configuration and click OK. <\/span><\/span>
\nBy default BSNL modem is configurred to supply ip address for the system connected to it (DHCP Server will be running).<\/span> <\/span>
\nModem IP will be – 192.168.1.1 , subnet mask- 255.255.255.0, Modem will supply an IP for the system.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nSystem IP will be – 192.168.1.2 , Subnet – 255.255.255.0, Gateway – 192.168.1.1 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nNow you can start browsing the internet.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Manual Configuration:<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/h3>\n

If you want to configure the setting manually.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nFollow the above settings and , Instead of enabling automatic configuration select Static IP Address and enter the IP details.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

IP address\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 – 192.168.1.2 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Gateway Addres – 192.168.1.1<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span>

\n<\/span> After saving the above settings, you can login to the broadband modem through web browser using IP- 192.168.1.1 (user- admin, passwd- admin). There you can find the DNS server assigned to the modem. Same IP you can use it here.<\/span>

\n<\/span> Without configuring DNS net surfing will not work.<\/span>
\n
\n<\/span> IF the DNS service is enabled in your modem, then you can use the modem IP(192.168.1.1) as a DNS server IP <\/span>

Configure Through Shell\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/h3>\n

For Fedora Linux<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/span>
\nedit \/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-eth0<\/span><\/span>
\nand add the below configuration<\/span><\/span>
\n#vim \/etc\/sysconfig\/network-scripts\/ifcfg-eth0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
