Procedure Set the default runlevel In Linux CentOS Fedora Redhat Ubuntu Debian Linux<\/p>\n

Set the default runlevel<\/u><\/b><\/h3>\n

1) To set the default run level, you have to delete the existing symbolic link and create a new one. This will be permanent after rebooting also.<\/p>\n

#rm \/etc\/systemd\/system\/default.target <\/b><\/p>\n

Default Text mode<\/u> ( runlevel 3)
\n#ln -sf \/lib\/systemd\/system\/multi-user.target \/etc\/systemd\/system\/default.target <\/b><\/p>\n

Default Graphic Mode<\/u> ( Runlevel 5)
\n#ln -sf \/lib\/systemd\/system\/graphical.target \/etc\/systemd\/system\/default.target <\/b><\/p>\n

2) To switch form one run level to other immediately you have to run the following comment.<\/p>\n

Switch to Text Mode<\/u> (Runlevel 3)
\n#systemctl isolate multi-user.target <\/b>
\nor
\n#systemctl isolate runlevel3.target<\/b><\/p>\n

Switch to Graphical Mode<\/u> (Runlevel 5)
\n#systemctl isolate graphical.target<\/b>
