How to configure SNMP Service in VMWARE VCenter vSphere ESXi Server.<\/p>\n

1. Start ssh service on your vSphere

In the vsphere Client
\nGo to – > esxserver 4.1 ->Configuration->Security Profile<\/b>
\nProperties -> SSH – > Options – > Start<\/b><\/p>\n

2. Find and edit the SNMP Config
\n<\/u><\/h3>\n

Using Putty tool login to the ESXi servers remote console.<\/p>\n

edit snmp.xml<\/p>\n

#vi \/etc\/vmware\/snmp.xml<\/p>\n

Replace the config with the following entries<\/p>\n

\r\n <config><\/b>\r\n <snmpSettings><\/b>\r\n <enable>true<\/enable><\/b>\r\n <port>161<\/port><\/b>\r\n <EnvEventSource>indications<\/EnvEventSource><\/b>\r\n <loglevel>info<\/loglevel><\/b>\r\n <communities>public<\/communities><\/b>\r\n <syscontact>Contact Name<\/syscontact><\/b>\r\n <syslocation>Server Rack<\/syslocation><\/b>\r\n <largestorage>true<\/largestorage><\/b>\r\n <engineid>00000063000000a100000000<\/engineid><\/b>\r\n <\/snmpSettings><\/b>\r\n <\/config><\/b><\/pre>\n
Save the settings<\/p>\n
Restart hostd service<\/span><\/h3>\n
\/etc\/init.d\/hostd restart<\/b>
\nNow Stop the ssh service<\/p>\n
