Linux Server iptables configuration for Symantec Backup Exec Agent<\/p>\n

Iptables Backup Exec<\/span><\/h2>\n

Below you can find how to enable the backup exec agent ports on Linux iptables configuration.<\/p>\n

By default Symantec backup exec will be running on dynamic ports . So we have to manually set the dynamic port range in the backup exec server.<\/div>\n

To configure the dynamic port range manually, follow the below steps.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the symantec backup exec go to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Go to Tools –> Options –>\u00a0 Network Security <\/b>and check Enable remote agent TCP dynamic port range<\/b><\/div>\n
and specify the ports range manualy . Port range 31821-32829<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Restart the backup exec server<\/p>\n

Now\u00a0 login to the linux machine and enable access for this port range (31821-32829) and the Backup Exec agent<\/p>\n

VRTSralus<\/strong> which is running on the port 10000 (default port for VRTSralus).
\nIf webmin is running on the port 10000, Edit \/etc\/webmin\/miniserv.conf and change the default port to 10001<\/p>\n

Enabling BackupExec Agent Port<\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/b>
\n#iptables -A INPUT -p tcp –dport 10000 -j ACCEPT<\/b>
\n#iptables -A INPUT -p tcp –dport 32821:32829 -j ACCEPT<\/b><\/p>\n

Also you can manually edit and \/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables<\/strong> and add the below mentioned line<\/p>\n

-A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp –dport\u00a0 10000 -j ACCEPT <\/b>
\n-A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp –dport\u00a0 32821:32829 -j ACCEPT\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Now Save and restart iptables<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0# iptables-save > \/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables<\/b>

\n#service iptables save <\/b>
\n#service iptables restart<\/b><\/p>\n
