Step by step procedure to upgrade MailScanner in CentOS Fedora Linux Ubuntu Redhat Debian Linux.

MailScanner Upgradation Procedure

To upgrade MailScanner from older version to newer version, you can follow the below simple steps.<\/p>\n

Pre-Request: <\/b>
\nDownload the latest version of mailscanner rpm package from www.mailscanner.info<\/a><\/b> website and transfer the file to your MailServer.<\/p>\n

Step 1\u00a0<\/b>
\nMailScanner Upgradation <\/b>
\nLogin to your MailServer using remote shell and go to the file location<\/p>\n

#rpm -qa mailscanner<\/b><\/div>\n
#tar -xvzf MailScanner-4.79.11-1.rpm.tar.gz
\n#cd MailScanner-4.79.11-1
\n#.\/install.sh<\/b><\/div>\n

\nUp-gradation will take some more time. After the successful completion of installation, you will receive the success message.

\nStep 2<\/b>
\nUpgrade your MailScanner config file<\/b> <\/b>
\nTo upgrade your MailScanner.conf and languages.conf files automatically, you have to run the below two scripts
\nupgrade_MailScanner_conf
\nupgrade_languages_conf<\/p>\n

#cd \/etc\/MailScanner
#upgrade_MailScanner_conf MailScanner.conf MailScanner.conf.rpmnew > MailScanner.new<\/b>This will upgrade the excising config file to newer one. Once you have checked that MailScanner.new contains what you want, you can then save your old one and move the new one into place, using commands like these:<\/p>\n

#mv -f MailScanner.conf MailScanner.old<\/b><\/div>\n

#mv -f MailScanner.new\u00a0 MailScanner.conf<\/b><\/p>\n

Step 3<\/b>
\nUpgrade Language Script.<\/b>
\n#cd \/etc\/MailScanner\/reports\/en
\n#upgrade_languages_conf languages.conf languages.conf.rpmnew > languages.new
\n#mv -f languages.conf languages.old
\n#mv -f languages.new\u00a0 languages.conf<\/b>

\nRestart the MailScanner service and verify the rpm version<\/p>\n
