Below you can find the procedure to reset CentOS Redhat Fedora Debian Ubuntu AIX Kali VMWare and any other Linux root Password<\/p>\n

Method 1 – Boot it in Lunux Single Mode<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
    \n
  1. While booting, On the Grub boot menu screen press ‘e’<\/li>\n
  2. This will enable edit option in the grub menu .<\/li>\n
  3. Go to the line which contains the word ‘kernel<\/strong>‘ and press ‘e’ to edit the line<\/li>\n
  4. Go to end of that line and enter ‘linux single<\/strong>‘<\/li>\n
  5. Then press ‘esc<\/strong>‘ twice and press ‘b<\/strong>‘ to boot the system in single mode.<\/li>\n
  6. Now the system will boot in the single user mode.<\/li>\n
  7. On the console type: passwd root<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. Now enter your new root password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Method 2 – Linux Rescue Mode<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
    Please try out the following steps to change the root password<\/div>\n
      \n
    1. Boot the computer with linux Installation CD.<\/li>\n
    2. Select\u00a0linux Rescue mode<\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. When the #sh prompt is reached, enter the following commands to change the mount point.
      \n#chroot \/mnt\/sysimage<\/b><\/li>\n
    4. Now enter the following command to change the root password.
      \n#passwd\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n
    5. Now enter your new password.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
